Acne / Breakout prone
Acne can affect skin at any age from adolescent to adult. It is usually characterized by oily to normal skin that persistently breaks out, is clogged, reactive and is sometimes inflamed. Acne is caused by a number of factors such as dirt and pollution on the skin’s surface, stress, an unbalanced diet, hormonal fluctuations and the overproduction of sebum, which is a naturally produced oil. The good news is that it can be alleviated over time by controlling stress, getting regular exercise to remove toxins from the body, following a healthy diet, and using natural organic skin care to keep skin clear and healthy.
Rosacea / redness
Sometimes confused with acne, rosacea often shows on the skin as an inflammation and reddening on the nose, forehead, cheekbone or chin. Inflamed capillaries on the skin’s surface give the complexion a red, blotchy or bumpy appearance. Rosacea is usually a genetic condition, but certain factors are known to aggravate it. Avoiding hot liquids, alcohol, the sun and extreme temperatures plus using products designed to help calm skin will help to clear irritations and control redness.
Signs of Aging
The telltale signs of aging include wrinkles and sagging skin. Two of the biggest skin woes, these conditions are a direct result of the body’s aging process. Natural collagen production slows with age and the skin appears less plump. While aging happens to everyone, there are ways to minimize the appearance and development of fine lines and wrinkles. The best long-term prevention for all skin types is a healthy lifestyle, daily sun protection, and a targeted skin care regimen.
Hyperpigmentation / uneven skin tone
Defined by the appearance of dark spots, freckles, scarring or an uneven skin tone, hyperpigmentation can affect any skin type and has a large spectrum of severity. Identified by an increase in melanin production in the skin, it is a universal skin condition. Environmental factors, stress, aging and post-inflammatory pigmentation are all factors in skin tone changes and coloration. Protect from future damage with SPF and seek products and treatments specifically designed to fade dark spots and hyperpigmentation.
Large Pores
Regardless of age or gender, the appearance of large pores is a common skin concern. Pores are used by the body to distribute skin-softening sebum (commonly referred to as “oil”). While everyone has visible pores, some naturally produce more oil, resulting in larger pores. Sebum also oxidizes when it reaches the skin’s surface, causing pores to become visible and appear larger. Pore size may increase with age as the skin loses elasticity. With regular cleansing and gentle exfoliation, sebum is removed from the skin’s surface, resulting in less visible pores.
Eye Area
The skin surrounding the eyes is seven times thinner than the skin around the rest of the face. This naturally delicate skin is very susceptible to the effects of sun exposure, aging, lack of nutrition and dehydration. The skin around the eyes reflects the slightest imbalance in skin health and is also prone to wrinkles, dark circles and puffiness. As the eyes are one of the most expressive features, daily hydration, weekly eye masques and even light exfoliation with specific, targeted products will ensure this unique zone of the face remains firm and toned.
Lack of Firmness
Just like muscles throughout the body, the muscles under the surface of the complexion can lose tone. When muscle fibers and elastin lengthen as a result of aging, lifestyle and nutrition, the skin then appears to sag. Dehydrated skin can also appear to droop around the eyes and jawline. A consistent, targeted skin care regimen and regular facial massage are key ways to keep skin healthy and firm.
Sun Damage
Spending too much time in the sun can result in both temporary and long term damage to the skin. One of the most common conditions as a result of sun exposure is immediate dehydration and painful, itchy redness. Extensive sun exposure over time can also permanently stretch small blood vessels, creating a red and blotchy complexion. To prevent negative effects as a result of sun exposure, keep the skin protected and hydrated when spending time in a the sun.
